For the second time in a decade gun violence has rocked an Omaha family. On Wednesday someone shot and killed 21 year old Kayviaun Nelson in the parking lot of the Irvington Walmart near 99th and Military.
Omaha police have found a Chevy Malibu involved in the shooting but the search continues for suspects. Outside Zion Baptist Church in North Omaha Thursday afternoon Nelson's family talked about their latest tragedy.
"I can not wait until the day that justice rolls down like the river, for this one event will forever lay a rippling effect on this family," Kayviaun's father Charles Nelson said.
She leaves behind a 2-year-old and a 4-month-old. In 2009 Kayviaun's mother, Vanessa Thomas, was shot and killed outside a house near 41st and Sprague.
Omaha police ask anyone with information about Kayviaun's murder is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 444-STOP.
