A bill that would raise the speed limit on some Nebraska highways is headed to Governor Ricketts' desk.
Lawmakers passed the bill that would increase the speed limit on Nebraska's two and four lane highways on a 44-1 vote Wednesday. The bill does not include language that would increase speeds on I-80, language that was in previous versions of the bill.
The current proposal would raise the speed limit from 60 to 65 MPH on four lane highways with other freeways seeing a limit increase from 65 to 70 MPH. The Department of Transportation will implement any changes.
The bill now heads to Governor Pete Ricketts, who has voiced his support for the bill.
