Brownell Talbot Scraps Cell Tower Plans

A private Dundee neighborhood school has scrapped their plans to build a cell phone tower on a portion of their land.

Brownell Talbot had been negotiating to lease a section of property to AT&T for the construction of the tower, but the plan met with mixed reviews in the neighborhood. The school issued a statement on Thursday saying they needed to be a good neighbor and consider the feelings of Dundee residents.

"Brownell Talbot School’s intent when considering the proposed cell phone tower lease agreement with AT&T was to help provide improved cell service for the neighborhood while also creating an opportunity where the school would benefit from revenue the lease would generate. While the school heard from many community members who were in favor of the plan, the school also heard from others who had concerns about the cell phone tower location. The school is a longtime member of the community, and it is important that we listen to our neighbors. After careful consideration, Brownell Talbot has decided to withdraw from the proposed lease opportunity. BT appreciates the respectful manner in which everyone communicated their support and concerns throughout the exploration of this opportunity."
