Deputies To Crack Down On Platteview Road Speeders

If you drive Platteview Road in Sarpy County you may notice more deputies on patrol through the end of April.

Sarpy County Sheriff's Lt. Jacob Betsworth says they will be conducting special enforcement operations between 36th Street and Highway 31 after receiving several complaints about drivers who excessively speed and illegally pass other vehicles.

"Platteview Road is a two lane county road where the speed limit, for the most part, is 55 mph and a lot of that road is a no passing road," Betsworth says.  He says they are concerned for public safety because much of these dangerous driving reports have occured during heavy traffic times.

He says the sheriff’s office and the Nebraska State Patrol will join forces to conduct these enforcement efforts.  "We'll have extra patrols out monitoring speeding and the illegal passing, and we'll be doing a couple of group efforts with the Nebraska State Patrol to bring extra enforcement to the area.

He says there will be a zero tolerance policy for drivers who are caught.
