Hagel Shoots Down President's Idea Of Using Troops To Secure Border

Former Nebraska senator and secretary of defense Chuck Hagel made a stop in Omaha on Tuesday, and had some thoughts on President Trump's idea to position troops on our southern border.

Speaking at Creighton University, Hagel shared his views on the state of America, telling 6 News he doesn't think it is a good idea to use the military to secure the US/Mexico border. "We don't need our U.S. military to be wasted by a ridiculous assignment going down and securing our borders from what? So it's goofy. Again, I think it just makes a mockery of our country, and every country that sees it laughs at us."

Hagel also thinks the Republican Party is at risk of losing a generation of young people by not listening to them. He believes republicans and democrats need to play nice with each other and make compromises in order to move America forward.
