Widow Of Murdered Truck Driver Reacts To Arrest

An Omaha woman who lost her husband in a deadly road rage incident last fall is reacting now that the man originally arrested as an accessory has been charged with the murder.

32-year-old James Womack was shot and killed at 60th & L St. back in September. Shortly after police arrested Michael Benson as an accessory to the crime.

As the investigation continued, prosecutors upgraded the charges against Benson and believe he is the man who pulled the trigger that day.

Judge Darrell Lowe ordered a bond of two million dollars for Benson ensuring he will remain in custody while he awaits his trial.  Ivonne Womack is raising the family's three children on her own now, but she tells 6 News she is grateful to see the case moving forward.

"I was pretty satisfied that we actually found the guy who actually did this to my husband. So I'm pretty happy the case is moving forward and we get some justice for what happened that day."

If Benson is found guilty he will face anywhere from 20 years to life in prison. Mrs. Womack tells 6 News she tries not to think about the man accused of killing her husband.

"I have no comment about the guy. I try not to. I concentrate more on the case instead of thinking about this individual who had no remorse about my husband."
