Lawsuit Filed Against Spa The Employed Alleged Sexual Predator

An Omaha spa is now facing a lawsuit after one of their employees was arrested for sexual assault.

A lawsuit has been filed against Oasis Massage & Spa by an unnamed victim who alleges that Oasis failed to due their due diligence when they hired 62 year old Melvin Buffington. The lawsuit states that Oasis didn't properly research Buffington's background, failed to properly supervise him and failed to have any safeguards in place to monitor and react to complaints.

The woman says that on January 12, she went to the Oasis location on North 132nd Street for a massage. She says during her massage Buffington, "inappropriately touched and assaulted the plaintiff. Said inappropriate touching and assault were without plaintiff’s consent and did cause her to suffer damages."

The lawsuit alleges that Oasis "failed to use reasonable care to protect its customers, such as the plaintiff, from being sexually abused and sexually assaulted." Omaha Police say Oasis Massage & Spa has cooperated with their investigation.

Buffington faces more than a dozen sexual assault claims.
