Omaha Home Gutted By Friday Morning Fire

No one was injured after fire heavily damaged an Omaha house Friday morning.   The call came in just after 6:30 a.m. near 34th and Seward.  A resident who called 911 reported hearing a loud boom in the laundry room before the fire.

Fire crews arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the house.  The family was able to safely escape.   It took about ten minutes to bring it under control.   Investigators say a malfunctioning gas dryer is to blame for the fire.

The Red Cross is now assisting the three adults who lived there.
