Lincoln City Council Ok's Ban On Bump Stocks

A controversial gun accessory will no longer be allowed in Nebraska's Capital City.

On Monday, the Lincoln City Council voted unanimously to support an ordinance that would ban bump stocks. Lincoln joins Denver and Columbia, South Carolina as communities with bump stock bans.

Massachusetts and New Jersey have also enacted laws prohibiting the sale and possession of the devices. The move comes in response to the use of the accessory by the Las Vegas shooter last year. Roughly a dozen other states are also considering bump stock bans.

President Donald Trump directed the Justice Department in February to move to ban devices like the rapid-fire bump stocks used in last year’s Las Vegas massacre.
