For the past several years Clancy's Pub near 72nd and Pacific has been a popular St. Patrick's Day hangout. But that will change after this Saturday's celebration.
Owner Rick Koenig tells NewsRadio 1110 KFAB they will close their doors after Saturday's annual St. Pat's Day celebration. "Saturday we open at 6:00 a.m. and then we will run until 2:00 Sunday morning. It's going to be one last big St. Patrick's Day just the way Clancy's has done it for the last 41 years."
The building that has been home to Clancy's has been purchased by Kum and Go and plans call for a bigger is convenience store and gas station to be build on that corner. Koenig says after this weekend's last call he will begin looking for a new spot for an Irish bar, but it will have a different name.
"We decided if we were going to start something new in another location let's start it with a new name and a fresh start," Koenig says.
Judging by the number of phone calls he's received, Koenig believes Clancy's will be packed. "Talking to a lot of our friends, family and regulars. Everyone says we are definitely coming in for out last St. Patrick's Day,"
