Flu Season Winding Down In Metro Area

With the number of patients experiencing flu-like symptoms significantly decreasing, Nebraska Medicine plans to end walk-in flu clinics at the end of the month. Those two clinics will also be returning to regular business hours beginning Monday, March 19.

It’s been a little more than a month since Nebraska Medicine opened the two walk-in clinics to handle the increase in the number of patients needing same-day access for their flu-like symptoms. Over the past six weeks, more than 585 patients were treated at Nebraska Medicine – Chalco and Nebraska Medicine – Clarkson Family Medicine for these symptoms.

The total number of flu patients seen at these two clinics declined steadily since they opened on Feb. 5. Here is a breakdown in the number of patients seen each week:

1st Week         219

2nd Week        148

3rd Week        86

4th Week        60

5th Week        47

6th Week        24  (Monday through Wednesday)

Walk-in flu patients will continue to be seen until the end of March.

Clinic hours are:

Nebraska Medicine – Chalco: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Nebraska Medicine – Clarkson Family Medicine: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
