Omaha Police are investigating after finding a person at Benson High School had been shot with a BB gun.
Officers were called to the school around 6:00 Monday night after receiving reports of a shooting. Authorities say the victim only suffered minor injuries, but with the recent events at a high school in South Florida police are taking any report of violence at a school especially seriously.
Omaha Police Sergeant Justin Smith tells 6 News that the incident had them on high alert. "It definitely gets our attention. We had a large response. We had uniform officers and gang officers respond as well. Because like you said, whenever we respond to a school for an incident like this, it is definitely a serious matter."
Police only have a vague description of the potential suspects. and no arrests have been reported. The motive for the crime is not known at this time.
