Omaha Man Escapes Injury After Train Slams Into Vehicle

An Omaha man escaped injury Sunday morning after a train slammed into his car in Greenwood.  The Nebraska State Patrol says 21 year old Jim Pinkman Jr. was trying to drive over rail tracks where there was no crossing when his Lincoln MKZ got high-centered on the tracks.

Investigators say Pinkman left the vehicle and went to get help moving the truck off the tracks.  Pinkman returned and was unable to move it before a train approached.

The engineer tried to stop the train but could only slow it down before slamming into the unoccupied truck, pushing it more than 500 feet.

State Troopers found Pinkman. He was arrested for DUI, reckless driving and trespassing.  He was taken to the Cass County Jail.
