Man Injured In Officer-Involved Shooting Released From Hospital

A 21 year old man injured in an officer-involved shooting Thursday has been released from the hospital and booked into jail on a number of charges.

Micah Taylor was booked at Douglas County Corrections for Assault on an Officer, Flight to Avoid Arrest, Delivery of a Controlled Substance-Marijuana, Possession of a Deadly Weapon (brass knuckles) During the Commission of a Felony and on his Sarpy County warrants.

Taylor was shot during an altercation with police on Thursday afternoon. A chase ensued and it came to an end on southbound JFK near L Street where he was arrested.

The incident began as Taylor was under surveillance. He was pulled over in a traffic stop near Highway 75 and Lake. In the course of that stop police say Taylor refused to get out of his car.  Officer David Staskiewicz grabbed his arm and Taylor drove forward, pulling Officer Staskiewicz alongside the vehicle. The officer fired three shots. Taylor fled and the chase followed.

Officer Staskiewicz was also injured during the incident and was treated and released at the hospital.
