Omaha police released more information on this afternoon's police pursuit that ended with a crash on the JFK south of L Street.
Officers with the Gang Unit were conducting an investigation around 2:30 when they attempted to stop a car on Highway 75 near Lake Street. The driver was a suspect involved in the investigation. During the traffic stop there was a struggle with the suspect and shots were fired.
The suspect fled the scene. The Omaha police helicopter followed the car southbound on Highway 75 where the suspect crashed south of L Street.
The suspect was taken into custody and then to a hospital. One officer was also taken to a hospital for a non-gun related injury.
This remains an active investigation and no further information is available.
