UNL Student Arrested For Having Gun On Campus

A University of Nebraska-Lincoln student is in hot water after having a concealed gun on campus.

Authorities say 21 year old Joseph Dembowski, a senior finance major, was seen by a staff member pulling out ammunition last Thursday. The staff member notified campus police and officers later discovered a gun in Dembowski's backpack. Although no threats were made by Dembowski, and he was cooperative with officers, he does still face up to two years in prison.

Staff members and students are allowed to have firearms on campus, but they must be stored in lockers at the University Police Department. If a weapon is removed from the secure lockers, it must be immediately removed from campus.
