More than 100 people will receive a meal and more provided by many in the spiritual arts community of Omaha. Organizer Sarah Schlotterback says their goal is to spread joy and hope. The meal is just part of what the group is offering those in need.
Schlotterback says, "We will be having a 'buddy bench' where there will be six individuals from my team where people can come and talk. There will be no judgement. We will be there as a lending ear. In our meals we will be giving letters of hope which are hand written notes of encouragement."
Schlotterback says the reason for doing this is simple. She says, "I've always had a passion for the homeless and want to make a difference in the world we live in. We can do it with just a few people." She has been doing this since a small child with her family in Chicago and has provided meals and more in Omaha three times. A new addition this year is they will also be feeding dogs at the event.
Schlotterback says they will be in front of the W. Dale Clark Library downtown from 11 until 1 and hope to provide meals for up to 175 individuals. They will also hand out warm clothing and hygiene products to those in need.
