14 Year Old Charged As Adult In Omaha Murder

A 14-year-old arrested in connection with the shooting death of 17 year old Zachary Parker will be tried as an adult according to Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine. 

Tyon Wells was charged Wednesday for one count of 2nd-Degree Murder, two counts Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony and one count 2nd Degree Assault. Wells could face up to life in prison for the charges. 

A 15-year-old who was with him is charged with Conspiracy to Distribute Marijuana.   Parker died at the hospital following Sunday's shooting near 25th and Crown Point.  17 year old Devon Darnell, 17 was treated at the hospital and released.  

Kleine tells NewsRadio 1110 KFAB Wells and the 15 year old met Parker and Darnell to make a drug deal involving marijuana.  He says Wells then pulled a gun and fired three shots into the car Parker and Darnell were in.  

The wounded teens then drove to Blackburn High School near 26th and Hamilton where police and paramedics tended to them.  Wells will make his first court appearance Thursday afternoon.
