An Omaha house was destroyed by fire early Tuesday morning. Firefighters were called to the house near 68th and Leavenworth around 3:30 a.m. and found heavy smoke and flames on arrival.
Investigators say the person who lives there had arrived back home to find it on fire and called 911 while trying to put it out with neighbor’s garden hose. The intense flames resulted in the roof collapsing.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and the Red Cross is assisting the resident.
