A former Elkhorn South High School student accused of five counts of terroristic threats was in court today. The 17 year old went before a juvenile court judge and entered a not guilty plea to those charges.
This stems from an incident Monday when a School Resource Officer received information on Monday about an alleged threat. The officer learned that the student had written a message to another student that turned it in to school authorities.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office conducted an investigation and searched the teen's vehicle and home for evidence. The teen indicated that a shooting would take place at the school on an unknown date using a firearm owned by his parents. The threat was directed at five other students.
The teen was taken into custody and held overnight at the Douglas County Youth Center. The teen was also ordered to continue detention and a pre-trial hearing was set for March.
Sheriff's officials say the teen's parents have cooperated and all potential weapons hav been removed from the home. Elkhorn South High School worked closely with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office to assure the safety of students and faculty.
No further information will be released in regards to the suspect or the victims as they are juveniles.
