Lewis Central Student Accused Of Making School Threat

Council Bluffs police say charges are pending for a Lewi Central High School student who allegedly threatened to bring a weapon to school on Monday.

Investigators said the student's threat was overheard by a staff member who immediately reported the incident to school administration. Lewis Central administrators contacted police.

Council Bluffs investigators do not believe the threats made by the student are credible. The student’s family has been contacted and they are cooperating with the on‐going investigation.

The Council Bluffs Police Department says they will take any threat to shoot up a school or other location very seriously. The departments says it aggressively investigates each claim and works with prosecutors to charge those responsible.

The student's name is not being released. Police say charges are pending at this time. Officers will be present at Lewis Central on Tuesday.

Council Bluffs police urge anyone who hears or sees another person making threats to shoot up a school or other location to immediately report the incident to someone in authority.
