Royals-Storm Chasers Game One Month Away

With warmer weather ahead this week thoughts are starting to turn toward spring and the baseball season.  One month from tonight the Omaha Storm Chasers will play an exhibition game against the parent team Kansas City Royals at Wener Park.

It will be the first time since 2000 at Rosenblatt Stadium that the two teams have played each other.

"18 years later, we're proud to be able to host that," says Storm Chasers President and General Manager Martie Cordaro.   "It also kicks off both the big club and our 50th seasons.  We're very honored that (Royals GM) Dayton Moore and the team will be here."

Cordaro says despite the long, cold winter the field should be ready to go for the March 26th game.  "We purchased some new growth blankets for the field going into the off season.  Once the blankets come off and all the snow is removed getting the irrigation turned on will be job number one."

To commemorate the 50th season several former Kansas City/Omaha players will be making appearances at Werner Park, including Mike Sweeney, Frank White, Jeff Montgomery, Ken Harvey, Angel Berroa and Jack McKeon.

Tickets for the exhibition game are sold out, but Cordaro says "That doesn't mean that leading up to the game that we wouldn't have some pass list tickets from the Storm Chasers or Royals teams that potentially could become available on day of game."

He encourages fans to pay attention to their social media and website for announcements regarding tickets.
