The Westlake Ace Hardware store on Saddle Creek Road in Omaha normally opens at 7:30 each morning On Friday, people were already lined up outside so manager Dave Davidson opened the doors 20 minutes early.
"By 11:00, all ten pallets of ice melt we had were gone." The icy conditions this week and the possibility of several inches of snow on Saturday has led to a mad rush across the City. Several stores KFAB checked with say they are out of ice melt. Davidson says he will get more in on Monday.
For people who can't get ice melt and want to prevent slips and falls on their driveways and sidewalks Davidson suggests kitty litter, oil dry and sand. "They won't melt the ice for you but it will give you traction."
