Lincoln Teen Makes False Report Of School Threat

A 15 year old Lincoln Southeast High School student is in trouble for making a false report of a threat against the school.

Lincoln Police say the student reported he viewed an Instagram post with a message about shooting people at Lincoln Southeast.  Investigators worked to determine the origin of the account with the posted threat.

Ultimately, the investigation revealed the same 15-year-old student who reported the threat had created a fake account and made the false threat. The student was referred to the county attorney for false reporting.

In a separate incident, a 16-year-old boy was arrested after police say he threatened violence at Lincoln Northeast High School.

Lincoln Public Schools' security team notified police of the threat on Thursday afternoon.  After an investigation, the boy was arrested on suspicion of making terroristic threats.  Police say they have no information to suggest an ongoing threat to the safety of Northeast high school or any other schools in Lincoln.

Investigators say there were so many kids in this situation who did the right thing. They heard some concerning statements, trusted their instincts and shared what they learned.
