Former Omaha attorney Jeremy Jorgenson found himself on the other side of the law as he appeared in a Douglas County courtroom Wednesday morning. Jorgenson, who served on the defense team for convicted killer Anthony Garcia, waived his preliminary hearing on a child abuse charge.
Jorgenson is charged with one count of Child Abuse with Neglect and one count of Tampering with a Witness. Prosecutors allege that on February 18th, Jorgenson and his wife were arguing when his 7-year-old stepson threw a toy at him.
They say Jorgenson grabbed the child by the shirt collar and carried the boy out of the room. She reportedly then heard a noise and the child crying.
The child suffered a broken arm and was treated at a clinic. Prosecutors claim that on the way to getting medical attention for the boy, Jorgenson told his wife and stepson that they needed to come up with a story and talked about blaming the injury on the child playing with a nerf gun.
Jorgenson’s bond was set at $30,000 Wednesday.
