A number of teens are in trouble with the law after a large Lincoln house party was busted by police Saturday night.
Lincoln Police say officers were called to a home near 80th and Abigail Drive just before midnight for reports of a house party with 150 to 200 intoxicated minors. When officers arrived they observed about 50 cars parked in the neighborhood and a number of parking violations. Numerous drunk party goers were seen walking through neighbors' yard making loud disturbances.
As officers approached the house, a strong smell of marijuana was also detected. An officer made contact with a seventeen year old male outside the party who had alcohol in his pockets. The officer gave multiple verbal commands but the teen tried to flee. The officer then grabbed the teenager's shoulders and took him down to the ground.
The teen then began elbowing and hitting the officer in the face repeatedly. The officer made multiple attempts to radio for help but couldn’t get to his radio. He was eventually able to use his leg to kick the teen off of him. The minor then ran from the area, but witnesses helped police identified the teenager. He was located at home and arrested for assaulting a police officer. The officer suffered injuries to his arm, right eye and mouth.
Other officers arriving to the scene also attempted to stop a vehicle fleeing the party, but the driver refused to stop. The driver accelerated in an attempt to flee, but hit a tree. As officers approached the vehicle they again told the driver to stop but he accelerated towards an officer. The officer was forced to jump out of the way to avoid being hit and the driver was arrested a short distance away.
The seventeen year old resident of the home reported her parents were out of town and she was cited for Maintaining a Disorderly House and Minor in Possession of Alcohol.
