Warm temperatures and very strong winds will highlight the forecast on Sunday, but expect a steep cool down and the return of frozen precipitation for the start of the work-week.
According to WOWT, strong winds, gusting upwards of 50 mph at times, will surge out of the south and drag in warm temperatures. Afternoon readings will top in the lower 60s, that is about 20 degrees warmer than average for this time of the year. Strong winds will taper off this evening.
A strong storm will roll in from the Rockies on Monday. This will bring the chance for rain, freezing rain and snow shower, mainly north. Temperatures will dip into the lower 40s around midnight, but temperatures will fall through the day on Monday.
Rain will push in overnight. Periods of freezing rain is forecast for Monday morning. A few hundredths of an inch will be possible, especially for areas north of Interstate 80. There will be a break from wintry conditions in the afternoon, but another round of evening rain and freezing rain will be possible through Tuesday morning.
Snow showers will be possible for areas mainly north of the metro. Tuesday will be cold. Highs will top in the mid 20s. Temperatures rebound by the end of the week.
