Two People Shot In Downtown Omaha

Omaha Police say two people were wounded after gunfire erupted during a large fight early Sunday morning in downtown.

35 year old Latisha Murphy and 28 year old Tracy Johnson were shot at 15th and Cuming outside the Omaha Design Center just before 2:00 a.m.   Police were called there to respond to a report of a fight involving "hundreds of people."

While responding to the call. officers were told that shots had been fired.  When the arrived they were able to disperse the crowd and secure the scene.  Murphy and Johnson were taken to the hospital for treatment. Police said neither had injuries that are considered to be life-threatening.

That incident came on the heels of an earlier shooting near14th and Mike Fahey Street.  Officers found 24 year old Randell Matlock suffering from minor suffering from a gunshot wound. 

Matlock told police that he had been driving into Nebraska on I-480 when a vehicle pulled up next to him and someone in that vehicle fired a gun. He suffered a graze wound and was treated at the scene.
