The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a thirteen year old student at Elkhorn Valley View Middle School for threats he made over a national social media gaming website.
Investigators say the threat was not specific but referenced a school shooting. The juvenile was booked into the Douglas County Youth Center for terroristic threats.
The sheriff's department says on Thursday they received a second report that the same juvenile had made new but similar non-specific threats over another social media platform. The juvenile was arrested and booked into the Douglas County Youth Center on a charge of terroristic threats.
Douglas County Sheriff's Captain Wayne Hudson says in this case they received information that potential danger was lurking.
"Someone saw something and said something and that's what all law enforcement agencies across the nation are hoping for," Hudson says. "If individuals hear something that doesn't sound right say something. If you're in a school bring it to your school administrator or law enforcement agency."
The name of the juvenile is not being released.
