Two teens are in jail after leading Omaha police on a chase following a carjacking Thursday afternoon. Just before 5:00 a man told police he was getting into his parked vehicle near 25th and Caldwell when two men wearing all dark clothing and their hoods up approached him.
The victim said one of the bandits had a gun and demanded the keys to his vehicle. The pair then got into the vehicle and fled the scene. At 5:20 p.m. Officers saw the stolen vehicle in the area of 45th and Fort Street.
Police began a pursuit, which ended in the area of 30th and California Street. During the chase, the stolen vehicle lost at least one tire and threw sparks as it went down the road. Several OPD cruisers surrounded the stolen vehicle as the pursuit ended near southbound 30th and California.
A 17 year old and a 16 year old were arrested and booked into Douglas County Corrections for Felony Flight to Avoid Arrest and 3 counts of Robbery.
