The biggest killer in the United States remains heart disease and stroke and in an effort to make you more heart healthy Nebraska Medicine will hold a free public health fair on Friday.
Haylee Armstrong with Nebraska Med says prevention and education are key. "What are signs and symptoms of heart failure. Maybe heart disease, heart attack, let's talk about about risk factors and ways that our community can prevent themselves and their loved ones from experiencing a cardiovascular episode."
Armstrong says the day will be filled with fun activities for participants. "We'll have giveaways, heart healthy snacks, we'll also have group yoga and an art project going on that we'd love to display here on our campus."
The fair will cover everything from risk factors and prevention tips to smoking cessation and heart-healthy tips on nutrition, cooking, exercises,reducing stress. Participants can also receive free blood pressure checks, vascular screenings and hands-only CPR information.
The health fair will be held Friday, Feb. 16th from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Durham Outpatient Center West Atrium, Level one (4400 Emile St.Omaha, NE 68198). Public parking is available in the Green parking at 4400 Emile St. You can find more information here.
