A Nebraska man has seen his disappointment turn into joy after missing out on his chance to see his favorite NBA player in action.
Nineteen year old Nick Houston, a Millard South grad, bough tickets in November to see Dwayne Wade and the Cleveland Cavaliers play a road game in Oklahoma City. The only catch though? Wade was traded to the Miami Heat just hours before the NBA trade deadline.
Houston still made the trip to Oklahoma City to see the Thunder take on the Cavs, but he made sure people knew how disappointed he was that Wade wasn't there. Houston took a sign to the February 13th game that read: “Bought my ticket in November, drove 455 miles to see D-Wade play…Heat ticket?”
As luck would have it, Wade saw the tweet and responded a few hours later. The NBA all-star promised Houston tickets for a Heat game so he could still get to see his favorite player.
Officials with Fanatics, a fan gear company, also reached out to Houston to offer him a current Wade Heat jersey.
