A California couple accused of transporting marijuana through Nebraska will stand trial this Spring.
On Decmber 19th, 70 year old Barbara Jiron and 80 year old Patrick Jiron were pulled over on I-80 and law enforcement discovered 60 pounds of marijuana in their vehicle. The couple told officers that they did not know it was illegal for them to transport the pot from California to the East Coast. Authorities say the couple stated they were intending to gift the pot to family in Vermont and Massachusetts for Christmas.
On Monday, both Jirons pleaded not guilty to felony charges, including ones for marijuana possession. The Clearlake Oaks, California couple will appear in court again on May 22nd in York.
