Pediatric Patients Participate In Their Own Winter Games

Now that the 2018 Winter Olympics are full swing, young cancer and transplant patients at Nebraska got to take part in their own version of the winter games on Monday.

The hospital’s Child Life Department received assistance from several Creighton Bluejay athletes.  Some of the games and activities included skiing, hockey, snowball toss, Olympic ring toss, speed skating and an obstacle course.

Daisy is a ten year old cancer patient and says the event was a welcome relief for boys and girls who are spending time in the hospital.

"Kids in the hospital don't really like being in their rooms all the time.  So doing this brings them joy and happiness, letting them get our of their rooms and explore a little bit.

The eight student athletes from Creighton are from the volleyball, soccer, softball, rowing, cross-country and golf teams.
