Ex-Teacher; Coach Sentenced In Sex Abuse Case

A former Omaha youth softball coach and educator was sentenced in Douglas County court on Wednesday on sex abuse charges.

A judge sentenced 47 year old Daryl Clark to 25 to 30 years in prison after he pleaded no contest to charges of Enticement by Electronic Device and Attempted Depiction of Sexually Explicit Conduct. Clark was originally charged with sexual assault for sleeping with one of his softball players. Prosecutors found Clark only had sex with the teen after she turned sixteen, which is the age of consent.

Clark's victim spoke in court saying, “If you give him anything less than 50 years, you're basically saying you don't care if he does it again."

Prosecutors say Clark enticed the teen while he was her softball coach. The victim's mother discovered the two when she walked in on them in the girl's room at their home.

Before being sentenced, Clark told the judge he was remorseful for what he'd done. “I know what I did was wrong, and I spent the last year praying daily God will pour his grace over everyone I've hurt.”
