Super Bowl Party Safety In The Midst Of Flu Season

The flu bug is here and so is Super Bowl party time.

With Sunday's big game coming in the middle of the flu season, Douglas County Health Director  Dr. Adi Pour is offering some tips for partygoers in hopes of avoiding the influenza bug. "Use some tongs for your chips. We all love chips and dip, but don't double dip."

Pour also says if you're using plastic cups for drinks, make it easy to mark them so no one shares their germs. "Put some markers out there so people can put their names on their cups, have some fun with it."

Hand-washing is more important than ever during an aggressive flu season, so be sure you are washing your hands before handling any food. Pour also says party hosts should make it easy for their guests to contain and control germs. "We recommend that you have tissues around, that you have sanitizers around at those parties and just be conscientious about it, but have fun."

Anyone feeling ill should of course stay home as to not infect anyone else with their illness.
