Son Accused Of Murdering Parents; Niece Ordered to Stand Trial

The man accused of killing his mother, father and niece the day after Christmas has been ordered to stand trial.

Dalton Jr. faces seven charges in total, including First Degree Murder for the deaths of 70 year old John Dalton Sr., 65 year old Jean Dalton and 18 year old Leonna Dalton-Phillip. The three were all killed at the home of Jean and John Sr. near 37th and Spaulding on December 26th.

Authorities say Dalton Jr. was on the run after the murders, but was quickly arrested in Tennessee and brought back to Omaha. This is not the first time he has made an escape attempt like this. In 1998 Dalton Jr. fled to Tennessee after the death of his wife Shannon, a crime for which he served eleven years in prison.

Investigators say eleven shell casings were found at the scene, which would be consistent with autopsy results that showed John Sr. was shot five times, Jean four times and Leonna twice.
