OPS Board Selects new Superintendent

The OPS board voted unanimously Tuesday to select Cheryl Logan as the new leader of the district. The board announced it will immediately enter negotiations with Logan and work to finalize the details of the contract. 

Dr. Cheryl Logan is currently Chief Academic Officer for the School District of Philadelphia, responsible for the academic achievement of more than 135,000 students.

“I am honored to be selected as the next leader of the largest school district in Nebraska and I am committed to promoting and sustaining student achievement, equity and access to educational programming for all students,” said Logan.

Logan previously served as Assistant Superintendent at Philadelphia Public Schools, as an elementary principal at Prince George’s Public Schools and Howard County Public Schools, Maryland. Logan was formally a foreign language instructor and ESOL instructor at Prince George’s Public Schools.

Current Superintendent Mark Evans' contract is set to run through June 30.
