A highly traveled stretch of 168th Street will be completely closed for nine months beginning in March and City officials will share construction plans with the public during a meeting Wednesday night.
168th from West Dodge to West Maple will be widened to four lanes and the city will add a median and turn lanes to help ease the congestion.
City Engineer Todd Pfitzer says closing the entire two mile stretch from March to December will allow the project to be completed safety and more quickly. Initial plans called for the work to be completed in phases over a 2-3 year period.
Pfitzer says by completing the widening project this construction season, 168th Street will be a suitable detour next year when the City goes to work on widening 156th Street.
The public can learn more about construction plans and meet the contractor during Wednesday night's meeting at Manchester Elementary School at 2750 N HWS Cleveland Blvd. Doors open at 6:30 and there will be a short presentation at 6:50 followed by an open house.
