The investigation continues after a deadly tractor accident in Pottawattamie County late Saturday afternoon. The tractor flipped into a ditch and caught fire near Crescent, Iowa around 5:00. The driver of the tractor was killed.
Firefighters and paramedics from Crescent and Underwood rushed to the scene near 18853 Leisure Avenue. Deputies from the Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Department and troopers from the Iowa State Patrol also responded.
Firefighters quickly put out the flames that had engulfed the overturned tractor, but the victim still remained trapped.
Crescent Fire Chief Galen Barrett told 6 News: "Given the circumstances, it was a recovery rather than a rescue. Extrication involved a tow truck. Once the fire was out, the tow truck was brought in to remove the tractor and we were able to free the victim."
The Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Department is leading the investigation into what caused the tractor to fatally flip.
The man's name has not been released yet.
