Two Of Omaha's Finest Headed To The Superbowl

Two of Omaha's finest are already hard at work keeping the thousands of fans attending Superbowl LII safe.

Lt. Jay Leavitt says Omaha Police sent a bomb-sniffing unit and handler to the big game in Minneapolis, Minnesota. "This year we are sending Officer Chris Colling and his K-9 partner Danz to assist with the enhanced security up there. He drove up there on Tuesday and will be there throughout the week and through the Superbowl."

Leavitt says this is the second year in a row an Omaha K-9 unit has been asked to help during football's biggest game. "When we were presented with this opportunity last year, we discussed it with the Chief and he was definitely on board and and saw it as a good opportunity to assist our federal partners and make sure we get a safe event and get our teams exposed out there."

Colling and Danz will be doing lots of sweeps in Minneapolis, especially in public places Leavitt says, including Superbowl events leading up to the Patriots/Eagles match up. "It's not a leisurely trip to go see a good football game. It's a lot of hard work. They'll be working hard from now up until the game and even throughout the game as well.", and  they will stay busy during their time in Minneapolis. "

The Superbowl will be aired on NBC on February 4th.
