Two people escaped injury after fire broke out in a Regency duplex Thursday morning. The fire was reported around around 7:40 at 10036 Fieldcrest Drive, which is just north and east of Pacific and Regency Parkway.
Battalion Chief Gary Rice says there was smoke coming from the right side of the duplex when they arrived. He says a person who lives there made it out along with a dog.
Rice says there was minor smoke damage next door and a resident was removed and taken to a neighbors house.
Investigators say a faulty kitchen appliance sparked the fire, which caused an estimated $75,000 damage.
