A woman who police say used a fake $100 bill to buy a winning scratch off ticket says she is an innocent victim.
Jena Cain tells 6 News she didn’t know she used a counterfeit $100 bill. “I couldn’t tell you the difference from a real one to a fake one. I guess just be aware when you are selling any kind of belonging on any buy, sell, trade."
Cain says she sold a Star Wars ornament to a small Omaha business and a man paid her with two $100 bills. She says she spent one of the bills with no problem, but the other was a fake. “I want the police to find out who is doing this? Where are these fraudulent $100 bills coming from?
As for the payout from that winning scratch off ticket that garnered a big reaction from Cain? She says it was only $2, and she was just excited to be a winner.
Investigators are looking into how Cain got the counterfeit $100 and she’s taken what she knows to Papillion Police, who they say are treating her as a victim and witness.
