The two persons of interest in the disappearance and death of Sydney Loofe have been indicted on more than a dozen unrelated, federal fraud charges. 23 year old Bailey Boswell and 51 year old Aubrey Trail are accused of defrauding two victims out of more than $400,000.
According to the grand jury indictment, it started in November 2015 when Trail, approached one of the victims with a proposal to jointly purchase a gold coin and share in the profits. The indictment accuses Trail of falsely representing the value of the gold coin to be far in excess of the price to be paid by the victim and Trail.
Trail and Boswell are accused of requesting money and property from the victims, known only as M.E. and B.E., in the form of currency, and gold coins and bars for related aspects to the sale of the gold coin. According to the indictment, the expenses ranged from travel, to the grading of the gold coin, to costs associated with sale contracts.
The two are also accused of setting up false documents and websites to convey the appearance of a legitimate transaction.
From December 2015 to November 2017 Trail and Boswell are accused of traveling numerous times back and forth between Nebraska to Kansas to pick up money and property to be used in the sale of this gold coin. According to the indictment, over the course of the scheme, the victims lost more than $400,000 due to false pretenses and promises made by Trail and Boswell.
The two are facing 14 counts total, each one comes with a penalty of up to ten years in prison. None of the current charges are in relation to Loofe, however, they were discovered during her disappearance and death investigation, which continues.
