'Canterbury Cannibal' Held In Washington County Jail

Residents of Blair are resting a little easier knowing that a man known as the 'Canterbury Cannibal' is not roaming their neighborhoods anymore.

Last week it was made known that Dale Bolinger was living with a family friend at a home in Blair after serving time in the U.K. for some devious crimes.

In 2014, Bolinger was found guilty of grooming a fourteen year old girl for sex, then planning on killing and eating her. Bolinger, an American citizen, served about half of his nine year sentence before being released and deported back to the U.S.

Neighbors that spoke with 6 News didn't want to be identified but were in agreement...keep Bolinger out of the neighborhood. "It just seems inappropriate for someone to live here with so many families and little kids."

Another neighbor showed us a copy of an email sent out by Steve, the man who was hosting Bolinger.

In an the email sent out by the man that was hosting Bolinger told neighbors that Bolinger "will not be returning to our house" and "my sincerest apologies for what has developed here."

Bolinger is being held by the Washington County Sheriff, according to online jail records, but no charges are listed. In some cases when no charges are listed, a person may be being held on a mental health warrant, but the sheriff's department has not confirmed that.
