Council Bluffs Police have arrested a suspect they say is responsible for shooting a man and stealing his truck.
Police say with the help of the public, 51 year old John McAuliffe Jr. was identified as the suspect in the December 30th shooting and carjacking where a 53 year old Elkhorn man was shot in the thigh. Authorities say the victim was trying to run from McAuliffe, who was attempting to steal the man's pickup truck from the Horseshoe Casino parking lot. .
Once McAuliffe was identified, detectives were able to obtain arrest warrants for McAuliffe. On Sunday, McAuliffe turned himself on the warrants at the Pottawattamie County Jail where he remains in custody. He is being charged with Attempted Murder, First Degree Robbery and Willful Injury.
