Tow Truck Operator Praises City Street Crews

Normally snow and ice on the streets means big business for drivers with Arrow Towing in Omaha and Council Bluffs.  But Steve Rains tells NewsRadio 1110 KFAB it has been smooth sailing since Thursday morning's snowfall.

He credits the work of street crews on both sides of the river for keeping roads clear and well treated.  "Since 3:00 a.m.  we've only done a half dozen calls for the Omaha Police Department and 27 total calls." (as of 2:00 pm).

He also says having so many people at home and off the streets helped the situation.  "I think everyone heeded the warnings and they did a real good job of hunkering down and staying home."  Rains says they did get several calls for semi's that slid off the road.

With the possibility of more snow Friday and Saturday night and bitterly cold temperatures hanging around Rains expects to see more batteries that need to be jump started and more vehicles having battery problems.
