A would-be thief was chased away from a south Omaha convenience store Thursday night by an employee armed with a gun.
Officers responded to the Mega Saver near 24th and I Street just after 8:00 p.m. for a robbery. Witnesses told police a black male suspect came into the store holding his right hand in his coat pocket as if he had a gun and began to reach over the counter for the register drawer.
Police say that's when the store manager, who was armed, confronted the suspect. The empty handed bandit then turned around and ran out of the store. The investigation is on-going.
