Omaha Police Officers Injured In Crash

Four people were injured in a Tuesday night crash that involved an Omaha Police cruiser.

Omaha Police say just before 10:00 officers Judkins and Rich were responding as backup for a hit and run call at 27th and Cuming. The officers were in a marked vehicle on southbound 30th Street near Hamilton when the cruiser was hit in the intersection. The passenger side of the cruiser was struck by the front end of a Pontiac Grad Prix, forcing the driver's side of the police vehicle into a cement wall.

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage during the incident and caused injuries to occupants of both cars. Two people in the Grand Prix and both officers were transported to Nebraska Medicine for treatment of minor injuries. A fifteen year old boy in the Grand Prix who fled from the scene on foot was later located uninjured at a nearby residence.

The crash remains under investigation.
