A hit-and-run crash in western Illinois Friday night claimed the life of an Omaha man and seriously injured his wife.
93 year old Ervin Goeden was killed in the crash. His 81 year old wife, Patricia, was critically injured and air-lifted by medical helicopter to a St. Louis hospital.
According to Washington County officials the crash happened on Interstate 64, just west of Nashville, Illinois Friday evening.
The Goedens' vehicle was driven by another family member, 56 year old Eugene Tomasello of Omaha, who escaped with minor injuries. Investigators say their car was clipped by another vehicle and went off the road, down an embankment and struck a tree.
The other car continued eastbound on I-64. The crash is being investigated by the Illinois State Police.
